38 Weeks and 3 days. I haven't taken a picture yet, but I'll post one when I do. I finally told Marc the other night that I think I'm officially ready to not be pregnant anymore. This has been such a smooth pregnancy and I've been super comfortable, but now I'm getting to that point. Funny how it happens overnight. I'm up every 2 hours at night to pee, and this little man has been settling himself on top of my bladder and pushing on my right groin. Lots of discomfort, and LOTS of Braxton Hicks contractions, but nothing painful yet, so I can't call the doctor. Last week we met the 3rd doctor in our practice, just in case she is on call when I go into labor. She measured and checked heart rate, and told me she thinks that Baby W is already 7 pounds, and will be close to 8 when he's born. I was 7lb 2oz and Marc was around 8lb 6oz, so apparently, this little boy is taking more after his Daddy. We'll see what happends come D Day - I really would prefer not to have a huge baby!!
Anyway, here I am at 36 weeks:
**MEDICAL CONTENT: When we went to the doctor for my 36 week appointment, we finally got a cervix check (fun times!). I was ready for 1cm dilated - most women are at 36 weeks, and then you walk around for 4-6+ weeks like that. Sure enough, 1cm dilated, but then she said I was 80% effaced!! Effacement is the thinning of your cervix, and the thinner it is, the easier it dilates. I didn't expect to be that thin. So, of course, I had a freak out after that.
We're ready at home, everything is set up, our bag is packed, so I wasn't worried about that part. It was work. I have a couple of big projects that I am a part of that will pretty much wrap up while I'm out. I walked out of the doctor's office thinking "OMG, he's going to fall out tomorrow and I don't have things where I want them!" I pretty much put myself on a modified bedrest at home - just hanging out on the couch after work and taking the elevators at work and trying to walk as little as possible. Even though my doctor had told me to keep doing everything I was doing, no big deal. I hunkered down in my office and got 1 project done (as far as I can right now), and started working on the other. So, now I feel much better and am back to taking the stairs, walking everywhere, and up and down at home.
We'll start walking the neighborhood in the evenings now, anything I can do to get this process started. I'll get checked again tomorrow at my doctor's appointment and we'll see. Any day now - I can't wait! I want to see what this Dude looks like and officially give him a name!! By the way, we're 90% sure on a name, but we want to see him to make sure we don't like our second name better. You all will find out soon!
