Bean Town! (part 1)

Sorry I'm just now getting around to posting about Boston, but I've rather enjoyed my little bit of vacationing! Here's the play-by-play of Boston, and I'll warn you now - lots of pictures!! So many pictures, in fact, that I've had to split it up into multiple posts! Keep checking for new play-by-plays!

Monday, May 25th - long day of travelling. Our flight left San Antonio at 7:30am, and we got to Boston at 2pm. We decided to try out luck with the subway rather than taking a cab to the train station.

Waiting for our train at the train station

Then we took a 2.5 hour train ride through the countryside up to Portland, Maine. We wanted to be able to say we ate lobster in Maine!
Us on the train:

Some scenery:We took the train through Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. It's funny that 2.5 hours will take you through 3 states. Before we new it, we crossed the border into Maine and we were in Portland! That night we went to a restaraunt called DiMillo's. It was an old ferry that they converted to a restaraunt. It sits right on the water! It was great, but since it was a holiday, they were closing the kitchen like 10 minutes after we got there. We ordered crab cakes and "Lazy Lobster" - lobster that's already pulled and in butter sauce! It was fantastic!!Yes, I took pictures of all of our dinners, they were so pretty and YUMMY!!

Tuesday, May 26 - we took the train back to Boston and went on a Trolley Tour of town. It was a good way to get aclamated and decide what we wanted to see over the next few days.

Us headed back to Boston:

Our Hotel. It is the oldest continuously functioning hotel in Boston! It was right on the Freedom Trail too, so we felt like we were in the middle of all of the action. Our Trolley Tour was fun! We could get on and off all day long, so if there was something you wanted to see, you could just catch another trolley later. The drivers wore microphones and told stories about the history and other random stuff. The trolley drivers were hilarious Boston drivers too! We had one driver that would run red lights and yell at other drivers if they didn't start moving as soon as the light turned green.

We caught the trolley by the State House and explored the Boston Harbor.

We found the Boston Harbor Hotel. This hotel costs $400 - $2000 a NIGHT to stay in! It had this big open air rotunda that had an absolutely enormous American Flag flying. We tried to take some pictures to grasp the grandiosity of it, but they don't do it justice.

Then we hopped back on the trolley and took some more random pictures, including Bunker Hill in the distance! We also came into town through the North Station, so I had to take a picture of the South Station.

As we were driving around town, laughing at our Trolley driver, a Bentley pulled up next to us. They are all over town! Just like the trucks down here.

After our Trolley Tour, we humbled ourselves by exploring the cemetaries in town. There are lots of famous people buried in Boston!

Ben Franklin's Parents:

Paul Revere's tomb next to his original grave marker:

Sam Adams:

The Boston Massacre Victims (all 5 of them):

And then we had to take a picture of the top of one of the grave markers. Just about all of them were like this. They had these weird skulls and crossbones.

That night, we went to Skipjack's for dinner. We had sushi, then Marc got a Lobster Roll and I had Rainbow Trout. Yum Yum!
