1 Week Update

I talked to Dawn today, and she's doing great for a week since surgery. Oh, and just FYI, I double checked with her before I posted all of that medical information - she was ok with me posting it. This way all those dang nurses in my family would have a grasp on what was going on. :-) So now she's recovering nicely. She was able to get out of the house with Mom over the weekend for a short trip to the grocery store, and yesterday she walked to the mailbox with John, which round trip is about a half mile. She said she had to stop on the hill to take a break on the way back, but other than that, she did well! She also said she went to Chipotle with John for lunch today, glad to get out of the house again! She has her follow up with the doctor at 4 weeks.

On another note: a 15.5 week update! The picture I was trying to post from my phone was of Marc driving with his RIGHT foot!! I have email on my phone, but for some reason I can't email pictures. Weird. Anyway, we went to run errands last Thursday, and Marc said "look what I'm doing!" He was driving with his right foot for the first time since his Achilles tendon repair surgery on October 1. For those of you who don't know, Marc decided to play flag football with his buddies last fall. I got a call coming out of class one day the end of September saying that my friend was taking Marc to the ER because they thought he might have torn his Achilles. I thought he just sprained his ankle, but sure enough, he tore it completely! He had surgery to repair it on Oct 1 and was totally non-weightbearing on crutches for 6 weeks, then in a walking boot for 2. He's been in Physical Therapy for the last month. His limp is almost gone and he can sit back on his heels for short periods of time, and now he's driving with his right foot! He had a doctor's appointment yesterday and the surgeon said everything looks great. He has another appointment in 2 months, but the surgeon said if he feels good he doesn't have to go. So, he's well on his way back to himself again.
