Surgery is over!

Dawn got out of surgery at about 10:15 this morning, everything went well! She got to her room about 11:45 and John, Mom, Dad, and I are all here. She's more awake now, and starting to drink some liquids. She got an official lunch "tray," with apple juice, a popsicle, and some broth. She's keeping everything down and she's just now starting to feel a little pain she says. I'll make sure she doesn't let it get too bad before we get her some medicine.

So, the surgery was pretty textbook. She had a lap assisted vaginal hysterectomy. She has 2 little stab wounds, one in her belly button and one a little lower. They took her uterus, but left her ovaries, so she doesn't have to worry about hormone replacement. She also had a bladder sling. They injected dye into her bladder to make sure nothing is leaking, so her urine is a little blue. She will keep her catheter until the morning. Tonight we get to sit on the side of the bed and dangle, and if she feels good enough, we can probably walk around the room a little.

She has her head of bed up and she's moving herself around in the bed a bit. Seems like she's making a nice recovery! Hopefully she'll let me take a picture or two later, we'll see!
